Sharp’s new LC-50LB370U series of 4K Smart TVs is quite a steal. With an MSRP of just $849, you get a lot of bang for your buck. The 50-inch model we are looking at here also has a lot of features that you would usually find on more expensive models from other brands.

This Sharp 4K TV comes with the standard smart TV functionality, found on most TVs today. It has apps such as Netflix and Hulu for seamless streaming of content from these services. Where it stands out from other budget models is when it comes to picture quality.

Sharp has included several proprietary technologies in the Contrast Control Zone, AquoSense Resolution, and Hybrid Lamp Technology to elevate the viewing experience above what you would expect from a sub-$1000 TV..

What’s in the box?

The LC-50LB370U comes with the TV itself, one remote, a power cable, an antenna (for over-the-air channels), and a quick start guide. There are no mounting or wall-mounting accessories included.

Overview of Features

Below are the most important features of this TV. We will go into more detail in the sections below. – 4K UHD Resolution: The Sharp LC-50LB370U has an ultra-HD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, which is standard for TVs in this price range.

While it does not offer the same level of visual detail as the 8K resolution of higher-end models, it still provides a visibly sharper image than Full HD. – Active HDR: This is an important feature for this TV. Active HDR allows the TV to process content more completely than normal HDR. This results in a more dynamic and realistic picture. – Aquos Picture Panel:

The LC-50LB370U TV has a panel made of a mixture of glass and resin. This improves the overall brightness and clarity of the picture. It also makes the TV very lightweight and easy to mount on a wall. – Motion Rate: This is the “Motion Rate” rating for the TV. It simply refers to the number of frames per second that the TV can process. The higher the number, the smoother the picture will look.

This is especially useful for sports, video games, and movies. – Integrated Browsers: The LC-50LB370U has two integrated browsers that allow you to access internet content on the TV directly. They have standard features, such as tabbed browsing and auto-fill login.

Picture Quality Out of the Box

The LC-50LB370U has an above-average picture quality out of the box. It performs well in most areas of picture performance, with the exception of black levels. The TV has good brightness, color accuracy, and contrast. The Sharp LC-50LB370U has slightly above-average native contrast, which is a good start for a budget TV. – The LC-50LB370U’s color accuracy is also above average out of the box. The TV has an average gamut of colors.

This means that it covers most standard colors, but will not be able to display more vivid or bolder colors like those found in OLED TVs. – The LC-50LB370U’s brightness out of the box is also above average. It has a maximum brightness of around 400 nits, which is average for a 4K TV. It can get bright enough for most moderate to bright room conditions. – The TV’s black levels unfortunately are below average out of the box. This means that dark scenes, such as night time scenes in movies, will look a bit too bright and not very realistic.

Pros: Good Brightness, Colors, and Contrast Out of the Box

The Sharp LC-50LB370U has good brightness and contrast, resulting in an above-average overall picture quality out of the box. This is a welcome surprise for a budget TV. – The TV has an above-average contrast ratio out of the box. This means that dark areas on the screen will appear darker than average. This will make the TV appear more immersive, especially when watching dark scenes.

Cons: Dark Shadow Detail and Black Levels Are Below Average

The TV’s below-average black levels and shadow detail mean that it does not perform as well in dark scenes. This is especially noticeable in dark movies and TV shows. – The LC-50LB370U’s black level is around 0.18 nits when set to “Dark.” This is darker than average, but still too bright for dark scenes. – The TV’s shadow detail is below average. It has about a thousand foot-lamberts of brightness in the “Dark” setting. This is significantly below average.

Conclusion

The Sharp LC-50LB370U is a budget 4K TV that performs surprisingly well out of the box. It has several features that are usually only found on more expensive models, such as Active HDR and a high contrast ratio. The TV’s picture quality is good overall, but its dark scenes are a bit too bright and lack in shadow detail. For its price, however, it is a very good deal. If you are looking for a budget TV, the Sharp LC-50LB370U would be a good choice. It has all the features you would expect to find on an entry-level 4K TV, and it performs above average for the price.
